DOE Report Slams $870M In Unspent Stimulus Funds

Law360, New York (September 7, 2011, 8:21 PM EDT) -- State and local governments have failed to spend as much as $870 million in stimulus money they received under a U.S. Department of Energy program to improve energy efficiency, according to a report released Wednesday.

More than two years after receiving the money, recipients have left about a third of their $2.7 billion stimulus funds untouched and the DOE has failed to properly monitor their spending, the agency’s inspector general said.
