Hanes Pops Forever 21 With Bra Patent Suit

Law360, New York (September 8, 2011, 1:07 PM EDT) -- Hanesbrands Inc. sued Forever 21 Inc. in North Carolina federal court Wednesday, accusing the fashion retailer of making and selling more than two dozen types of sports bras that infringe a Hanesbrands patent.

The maker of Hanes, Playtex, Champion and other popular clothing brands is targeting 28 bras that it says violate U.S. Patent Number 6,125,664. The patent, which was issued in October 2000 and is owned by Hanesbrands, is titled “Brassiere, brassiere blank and methods of making same,” according to the complaint.
