Mayer Brown Atty Asks 2nd Circ. To Toss Conviction

Law360, New York (September 9, 2011, 2:25 PM EDT) -- Counsel for a former Mayer Brown LLP partner told the Second Circuit on Friday that a trial judge's private exchange with a juror threatened by another tainted his client's conviction over a $2.4 billion fraud that destroyed Refco Inc.

“A juror was called in and walked out of the judge's room a different juror,” William Schwartz of Cooley LLP, who represents ex-attorney Joseph P. Collins, said during oral arguments.
