Judge Buries Class In Funeral Home Wage Suit

Law360, New York (September 12, 2011, 1:55 PM EDT) -- A Pennsylvania federal judge on Friday decertified a class of more than 700 employees of funeral home chain Alderwoods Group Inc. who allege the company's pay policies violate the Fair Labor Standards Act.

U.S. District Judge Joy Flowers Conti granted the funeral home company's motion to decertify the class, ruling that the plaintiffs had failed to produce substantial evidence that opt-in plaintiffs were similarly situated to the two named plaintiffs in the suit.
