Ryder Sued Over Fuel Charge Estimations

Law360, New York (September 13, 2011, 7:20 PM EDT) -- Ryder Truck Rental Inc. was slapped with a proposed class action in Maryland federal court Tuesday alleging it overcharged customers for fueling their rental trucks by rounding up fractions to the nearest gallon without disclosing the estimation to customers.

Baked goods distribution company Soft Stuff Distributors Inc. claims that Ryder improperly rounds up gas costs in violation of the Maryland Deceptive Trade Practices Act. The company is seeking at least $10 million in damages, an estimate its lawyer Ari Karen of Offit Kurman says is conservative....
