Grassley Urges DOJ To Investigate Civil Rights Hires

Law360, New York (September 13, 2011, 7:56 PM EDT) -- Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, said at a U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee hearing Tuesday that he had asked the U.S. Department of Justice's inspector general to investigate whether the Civil Rights Division was favoring liberal candidates for jobs with the organization.

The division has been “pushing the envelope” in its recent work, making prejudicial decisions about which cases to take on, possibly because it has only been hiring liberal lawyers, Grassley said at the Civil Rights Division oversight hearing.
