Canada To Fight 'Buy American' Provisions In Jobs Bill

Law360, New York (September 14, 2011, 3:10 PM EDT) -- The Canadian government raised concerns Wednesday that Buy American provisions in President Barack Obama's recently unveiled $447 billion jobs bill will impede Canadian workers' and businesses' access to the U.S. market.

The American Jobs Act, which Obama submitted to Congress on Sept. 12, includes a provision aimed at boosting domestic industries. Under it, no funds from the bill can go toward a public project unless the iron, steel and manufacturered goods used are produced in the U.S.
