BofA Must Rehire, Compensate Whistleblower: OSHA

Law360, New York (September 14, 2011, 7:15 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration on Wednesday said Bank of America Corp. must pay $930,000 to an employee who was fired after exposing widespread fraud at Countrywide Financial Corp. shortly before it merged with the bank.

Bank of America has also been ordered to reinstate the employee, who led internal investigations at Countrywide that revealed ”widespread and pervasive wire mail and bank fraud,” according to OSHA.
