Canada's Powerex Loses High Court Bid For Immunity

Law360, New York (June 18, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The U.S. Supreme Court has quashed a bid by a Canadian electricity supplier for state law immunity in two antitrust cases, ruling against the power company on a technicality.

Powerex Corp., a unit of the government-owned British Columbia Hydro and Power Authority, will now return to California's courts to face allegations it conspired with other power suppliers to fix prices during the state's energy crisis of 2000 and 2001.
