Feds Say 'Brazen' Ex-Galleon Trader Deserves No Mercy

Law360, New York (September 15, 2011, 1:24 PM EDT) -- Federal prosecutors in New York said Wednesday that former Galleon Group LLC trader Zvi Goffer should get 10 to 12 1/2 years in prison for his “brazen, sophisticated and extensive” scheme to trade on inside tips about corporate deals.

Goffer should also have to forfeit the $10 million he made by trading on secret information he received from Ropes & Gray LLP attorneys, prosecutors said.

“Goffer had no discomfort or hesitation about committing such an elaborate, brazen and egregious crime,” the government said in its sentencing...
