Judge Nixes BP Derivative Suit, Suggests UK Venue

Law360, New York (September 15, 2011, 9:54 PM EDT) -- A Texas federal judge on Thursday tossed a suit from shareholders against BP PLC's directors and officers over the fatal April 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil rig explosion, saying England is a more appropriate venue for the litigation.

The English High Court should be the venue for the suit shareholders brought on behalf of the British corporation, which is a nominal defendant, U.S. District Court Judge Keith P. Ellison said.
