Staples, Others Face New Suit Over Web Display Patent

Law360, New York (September 19, 2011, 1:46 PM EDT) -- A Dallas-based patent-holding company on Thursday accused several retailers, including Staples Inc. and L.L. Bean Inc., of infringing a patent for customized website display technology, marking the third federal suit over the issue.

Optimize Technology Solutions LLC sued eight retailers over their online operations, seeking treble damages and injunctions against Staples, L.L. Bean, Dillard’s Inc., Inc., HSN Inc., J.C. Penney Co. Inc., Recreational Equipment Inc. and Rhapsody International Inc.
