Excelsior Spread Lies About Rival's IV Cap, Suit Says

Law360, Washington (September 20, 2011, 7:05 PM EDT) -- Ivera Medical Corp. slapped rival Excelsior Medical Corp. with a false advertising and unfair competition suit in California federal court Tuesday alleging nurses linked unexplained infections to an Ivera disinfectant cap because of Excelsior's false statements about the product's effectiveness.

Ivera is the maker of the Curos Port Protector, a cap that guards against bloodstream infection in hospital patients by keeping the access ports used to introduce medications into patient intravenous lines protected and clean. Excelsior makes a rival product, SwabCap, that performs the same function....
