Jiau Sentenced To 4 Years For Stock Tipping

Law360, New York (September 21, 2011, 8:01 PM EDT) -- A New York federal judge on Wednesday sentenced ex-Primary Global Research LLC freelance consultant Winifred Jiau to four years in prison for passing insider corporate information to hedge funds through the expert networking company, a sentence well below federal guidelines.

Jiau, a Taiwan-born technology worker who was convicted in June of using her contract job at Primary Global to pass on confidential financial information, had faced a sentence of 78 to 97 months under federal sentencing guidelines.
