Google Shakes Aussie Watchdog's 'Sponsored Links' Suit

Law360, New York (September 22, 2011, 12:36 PM EDT) -- The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission saw its lawsuit against Google Inc. tossed Thursday after a judge concluded the Internet giant had not misled customers by calling advertisements on its search results pages "sponsored links."

Judge John Nicholas of the Federal Court of Australia also found that Google was not to blame for businesses placing search result ads that included a rival's name, product name or Web address in the headline.
