UK Denies Bloomberg Bid For Names Of Iran Exporters

Law360, New York (September 22, 2011, 4:33 PM EDT) -- A British tribunal refused Thursday to force the government to give Bloomberg News the names of companies that sought permission to export military goods to Iran, citing concerns that European banks might drop the companies for fear of losing their U.S. licenses.

Judge David Farrer of the U.K.'s Information Tribunal upheld an appeal from the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills seeking to overturn an administrative decision to give a Bloomberg reporter access to the information under the country's Freedom of Information Act.
