Jet Engine Export Schemer Asks For Lesser Sentence

Law360, New York (September 22, 2011, 5:51 PM EDT) -- After pleading guilty to participating in an unsuccessful plot to illegally export U.S. fighter jet engines to Iran, Diego M. Echeverri asked a Florida federal court Tuesday to limit his sentence since he played a minor role in the scheme. 

An attorney for Echeverri filed objections to the presentence investigation report Tuesday, arguing that Echeverri, 42, deserves a sentence beneath the range of 63 to 78 months advised by the federal sentencing guidelines.
