US, Tribe Sue Mining Cos. Over Coeur D'Alene Cleanup

Law360, New York (September 23, 2011, 2:19 PM EDT) -- The U.S. and the Coeur d'Alene tribe sued seven mining companies Thursday seeking more than $4 million for cleanup costs and natural resource damages at a Superfund site in northern Idaho.

The lawsuit follows several others launched by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the tribe against mining companies over pollution at the Bunker Hill Mining and Metallurgical Complex Superfund site in the Coeur d'Alene Basin. Atlantic Richfield Co. agreed in November to pay more than $6.7 million to settle an EPA suit over cleanup costs...
