Mo. House OKs Changes To Teacher Social Media Ban

Law360, New York (September 23, 2011, 5:42 PM EDT) -- The Missouri House of Representatives overwhelmingly passed a bill Friday that would repeal controversial language in the state's so-called Facebook law that bars teachers from having private conversations with students on social networking sites.

The state representatives voted 139-2 for the statute that would change certain provisions of an existing law aimed at protecting students from sexual misconduct, in part by prohibiting teachers from using any website unrelated to work to connect privately with current and former students who are minors and have not graduated....
