Chemical Co. Sues Over Transdermal Patch Patent

Law360 (June 20, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A chemicals company has filed a lawsuit against Noven Pharmaceuticals Inc. asserting a patent related to the delivery of a stimulant through a transdermal patch.

London-based Johnson Matthey Inc. filed the lawsuit, which names Noven as the sole defendant, on Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas.

Johnson Matthey is asserting U.S. Patent Number 6,096,760, titled “Solid alpha-phenyl-2-piperidine acetate free base, its preparation and use in medicine" and issued in 2000. Johnson Matthey is the '760 patent's assignee, the complaint says....
