Herman Miller Sues Italian Furniture Maker Over Classic Eames Designs

Law360, New York (December 16, 2004, 12:00 AM EST) -- Venturing into what has been treacherous territory for plaintiffs, U.S. furniture maker Herman Miller Inc. has filed a lawsuit against an Italian rival over trade dress rights.

According to the lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Florence-based A. Studio is knocking off the company’s Eames Lounge Chair and Ottoman and selling it under the name Alivar.
