Former Idaho Insurance Investigators Sue Over Firings

Law360, New York (September 30, 2011, 3:22 PM EDT) -- Former state employees sued the Idaho Department of Insurance in federal court Wednesday, saying they were forced out or fired after initiating a fraud investigation into a life insurance company that had connections within the department.

The Idaho-based insurer, identified only as company X, was raided by the FBI and Internal Revenue Service in October 2010 after state DOI investigators uncovered evidence that it was running an illegal rebate scheme, which induced consumers to buy life insurance policies that they could then sell to outside investors...
