Gerber, Others Failed To Warn Of Lead In Baby Food: Suit

Law360, New York (October 3, 2011, 3:21 PM EDT) -- An environmental nonprofit sued Gerber Products Co., Del Monte Foods and more than 25 other companies in California court Thursday, accusing them of selling children's and baby food containing high levels of lead without mandatory warning labels.

According to the Environmental Law Foundation's complaint, the defendants are required under California's Proposition 65 to warn customers about lead exposure from more than 100 products, including grape juice, packaged pears and peaches, fruit cocktails, and baby food containing carrots, peaches, pears or sweet potatoes.
