Texas Judge Slams Tanker Co. For Pollution, Lying

Law360, New York (June 21, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A district court on Wednesday ordered Overseas Shipholding Group Inc. to shell out $10 million as part of its record-setting $37 million criminal settlement with the U.S. Department of Justice over allegations of pollution and fraud.

The deal, which resulted from a guilty plea to 33 felony counts covering the company's alleged pollution and lies to the Coast Guard, was approved by Judge Thad Heartfield in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas.
