ECPA Shelters Foreign Citizens' Emails: 9th Circ.

Law360, New York (October 3, 2011, 5:55 PM EDT) -- The Ninth Circuit ruled Monday that the protections of the Electronic Communications Privacy Act extend to foreign citizens whose data is stored in the U.S., affirming a lower court ruling that Microsoft Corp. didn’t have to surrender an Indian man’s emails to Suzlon Energy Ltd.
