Rising Ethanol Production Keeps Lawyers Busy

Law360 (June 21, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- With alternative forms of energy a hot topic in Washington right now, ethanol has jumped to the forefront of the national debate. And though corn-based ethanol has gotten the most attention thus far, sugar cane and cellulosic ethanol, which are more efficient and therefore more environmentally friendly, have begun to gain traction.

“The ethanol industry is the fastest growing fuel supply in the U.S.,” said Vincent DeVito, an international energy attorney at Pepper Hamilton LLP. “It's a little bit like the Wild West. Everyone wants in.”...
