Cos. Shell Out $84M In Energy Crisis Settlement

Law360 (June 22, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission on Thursday approved settlements with with two power companies totaling nearly $84 million stemming from its investigation into price manipulation in the wholesale power markets during the 2000-2001 Western energy crisis.

PacifiCorp, an electricity producer owned by MidAmerican Energy Holdings Company, a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway Inc., will pay $27.9 million to resolve all outstanding claims against it stemming from FERC's investigation.
