Amazon Kindle Sparks Suit Over 5 Tech Patents

Law360, New York (October 7, 2011, 7:33 PM EDT) -- SmartPhone Technologies LLC hit Amazon.com Inc. with a patent lawsuit in Texas on Friday, accusing the online retail giant of infringing five digital communication and network patents with the production and sale of its Kindle e-reader.

The Frisco, Texas-based plaintiff contends that it has been damaged by Amazon's alleged infringement of the patents and seeks damages and post-judgment royalties and interest.
