Verizon Can't Dodge $115M Verdict Over Video Patents

Law360, New York (October 13, 2011, 7:40 PM EDT) -- A Virginia federal judge on Wednesday shot down Verizon Communications Inc.’s efforts to reverse a jury’s $115 million verdict against the telecom giant for allegedly infringing ActiveVideo Networks Inc.’s on-demand video patents.

U.S. District Judge Raymond A. Jackson denied Verizon’s seven post-trial motions, including a bid for a new trial and a bid to bar ActiveVideo from recovering pre-suit damages. The judge said Verizon did not present adequate evidence that there were grounds for any of the motions.
