Sharp Is Latest Hit With Smartphone IP Suit By Cascades

Law360, New York (October 14, 2011, 5:21 PM EDT) -- Sharp Electronics Corp. became the latest company hit with a suit by patent holding company Cascades Computer Innovation LLC on Thursday, with Cascades claiming in Illinois federal court that the company's smartphones infringe a patent related to binary translated code.

Cascades is seeking a permanent injunction, damages, fees and interest against Sharp Electronics, alleging its smartphones, including the FX Plus and ADS-1 models, infringe the patent.
