Film Distributor Dodges Production Co. Contract Suit

Law360, New York (October 17, 2011, 4:15 PM EDT) -- A Louisiana federal judge on Friday dismissed a local film production company's breach of contract suit against Los Angeles-based distributor American World Pictures Inc. for lack of jurisdiction.

U.S. District Judge Sarah S. Vance concluded that because AWP never came to Louisiana for its three-picture, international distribution deal with DMG Holdings LLC, the Eastern District of Louisiana did not have personal jurisdiction over DMG's claims that AWP violated the contract by charging the production company the full $60,000 marketing fee for each of the three movies...
