Arms Export Regs Keep US Space Industry Grounded

Law360, New York (October 28, 2011, 6:59 PM EDT) -- Outer space is becoming more and more commercialized, but Cold War-era arms export regulations may be restraining U.S.-based technology companies from boldly going where, up until now, only governments have gone before.

In July, the Atlantis space shuttle touched down on the Kennedy Space Center runway, completing the final mission of the 30-year space shuttle program. While NASA is cutting back on its plans for manned space flight, private companies are jockeying to capitalize on the new frontier.
