Water Agency Snubs $30M Deal Over Cracked Reservoir

Law360, New York (October 17, 2011, 7:14 PM EDT) -- A Tampa, Fla., water authority on Monday backed out of a $30 million settlement of a lawsuit blaming contractor HDR Engineering Inc. for a design flaw that led to abnormal cracking in a drinking water reservoir, deeming the offer too low.

Tampa Bay Water's board of directors voted 9-0 to reject a mediator's settlement proposal despite previously accepting the offer at a special meeting last month. Tampa Bay Water voted 4-3 in favor of the deal in September, but that did not meet the board's requirement...
