Jeweler Says Founder's Relative Exploits Trademarks

Law360, New York (October 17, 2011, 5:18 PM EDT) -- An Italian jewelry design house on Friday sued a descendant of its founder in New York federal court, accusing her of unfairly competing with the jeweler by leeching off its trademarked name to sell her own line of purses.

Buccellati Holding Italia SPA sued handbag designer Laura Buccellati, the grandniece of company founder Mario Buccellati, accusing her of using her own trademarked name to falsely imply her company's association with the high-end jeweler.
