Google, KPCB Join $33.5M Cancer Test Co. Infusion

Law360, New York (October 18, 2011, 3:31 PM EDT) -- Cancer diagnostics company Foundation Medicine Inc. announced Tuesday that it had raised $33.5 million during its most recent round of Series A financing for development of a personalized cancer diagnosis test, with new investments from Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers and Google Ventures.

KPCB partner Brook Byers and Google Ventures partner Dr. Krishna Yeshwant will join Foundation's board of directors, which the company said will add technology and medical expertise leading up to the release of the genome-sequencing test next year.
