Toys R Us Japan Will Be Fined In Antitrust Probe

Law360, New York (October 19, 2011, 11:13 PM EDT) -- The Japan Fair Trade Commission plans to issue Toys R Us Japan Ltd. a cease-and-desist order and fine in connection with an antitrust investigation into allegations that it had been underpaying its toy suppliers, the company announced Wednesday.

The commission ordered a draft surcharge payment in relation to its belief that Toys R Us Japan had abused its superior bargaining position with manufacturers, according to the company's statement.
