Judge Deals Blow To Medtronic In Case Over Heart-Stent Patents

Law360 (January 6, 2005, 12:00 AM EST) -- Medtronic Inc. can’t be too happy with its litigation scoreboard these days: After a string of widely publicized court losses, the medical device maker has been dealt yet another setback in a lawsuit over heart-stent patents with rivals Guidant Corp. and Boston Scientific Corp.

On Wednesday, a judge with the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware ruled that two of Medtronic's stent devices used to treat clogged heart arteries infringed a patent held by rival Guidant.
