Judge OKs Rambus Suit Vs. Hynix Over Memory Chip Patents

Law360, New York (January 6, 2005, 12:00 AM EST) -- A federal judge has denied Korean chip maker Hynix Semiconductor Inc.’s motion to dismiss a lawsuit brought by U.S. rival Rambus Inc. over patent infringement claims regarding high-speed memory chips.

In an order issued earlier this week, U.S. District Judge Ronald Whyte in San Jose, California rejected Hynix's request for pre-trial rulings that said the company did not infringe patents owned by Rambus.

Both Rambus and Hynix had asked Whyte to issue rulings on the patents before a trial scheduled for March.
