Jury Sides With AT&T Unit In OT Class Action

Law360, Los Angeles (October 21, 2011, 9:14 PM EDT) -- A Connecticut federal jury on Friday ruled in favor of an AT&T Inc. subsidiary in a class action accusing the company of improperly classifying a group of its managerial employees as exempt from federal and state overtime laws.

Following a three-week trial, the 10-member panel sided with Southern New England Telephone Co., finding the company's so-called first-level field managers were exempt under the the Fair Labor Standards Act and Connecticut law's executive exemption.
