CFTC Seeks Cellphone Hacking Tools To Aid Probes

Law360, New York (October 25, 2011, 1:42 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission last week put out a request for tools to cull potential evidence from smartphones, part of ramped-up efforts to nab fraudsters in the wake of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act.

The Oct. 19 notice comes as the agency prepares to tackle scores of new enforcement responsibilities under the Dodd-Frank Act, which for the first time will bring comprehensive regulation to the swaps marketplace.
