Ex-La. Lawmaker Gets 7 Years For Racketeering

Law360, New York (November 2, 2011, 8:40 PM EDT) -- Former Louisiana lawmaker Renee Gill Pratt was reportedly sentenced late Wednesday to more than seven years in prison following her racketeering conviction in connection with political operative Mose Jefferson's misuse of more than $1 million in federal and state grant money.

U.S. District Judge Ivan Lemelle handed Gill Pratt a sentence of 87 months in prison and ordered her to pay $1.1 million in restitution, according to a report by The Times-Picayune.
