Morrissey Libel Suit Against Music Mag Sent To Trial

Law360, Los Angeles (October 26, 2011, 7:40 PM EDT) -- The publishers of British music magazine NME will stand trial for libel over a 2007 article that rock singer Morrissey alleges deliberately distorted his view on immigration in an attempt to make the former Smiths front man appear racist, a British court ruled Wednesday.

IPC Media Ltd. and the magazine's former editor Connor McNicholas claimed the disputed meaning of the words in the article "Morrissey Big Mouth Strikes Again," constitute fair comment on a matter of public interest.
