Commerce Sets Dumping Duties For Samsung, LG Fridges

Law360, New York (October 27, 2011, 8:09 PM EDT) -- Whirlpool Corp. said Thursday that the U.S. Department of Commerce has issued a preliminary finding that South Korean manufacturers including Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. and LG Electronics Inc. violated U.S. and international trade laws by importing bottom-mount refrigerators at artificially low prices.

For exports of the refrigerators from their Mexican plants into the U.S., Commerce imposed preliminary duties of 36.7 percent on Samsung and 16.4 percent on LG, Whirlpool said. The preliminary duties for their exports from South Korea to the U.S. are 32.2 percent for...
