NY Court Reverses Facebook Access Ruling In Injury Suit

Law360, New York (October 28, 2011, 8:36 PM EDT) -- A New York appeals court ruled Thursday that a lower court may have given a construction company too much access to a plaintiff's Facebook account in a personal injury suit, saying only information related to his alleged injuries should be made available.

A five-judge panel for the Appellate Division of New York Supreme Court, First Department, reversed and remanded the matter, asking the lower court to specifically determine what information in plaintiff Russell Patterson's Facebook account is relevant to his suit against Turner Construction Co....
