Commerce Says Asian Cos. Ducked Chinese Hanger Duties

Law360, New York (October 28, 2011, 5:02 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of Commerce has reaffirmed its assessment that two Vietnam-based companies were illegally circumventing import duties for steel wire garment hangers that were actually produced in China, the agency said Friday.

Commerce again found that Angang Clothes Rack Manufacture Co. and Quyky Yanglei International Co. Ltd. are skirting the duties by taking Chinese-made hangers, making minor alterations and passing them off as Vietnamese products, according to a notice published in the Federal Register.
