LA Asks High Court To Nix River Pollution Ruling

Law360, Washington (October 28, 2011, 5:21 PM EDT) -- Los Angeles County and its watershed authority asked the U.S. Supreme Court earlier this month to review a Ninth Circuit decision finding they were liable for excessive pollution discharges in two California rivers.

In March, ruling in a suit brought by a pair of environmental groups, the Ninth Circuit held that Los Angeles County and the Los Angeles County Flood Control District allowed polluted stormwater exceeding Clean Water Act standards into the Los Angeles River and San Gabriel River.
