Attorney Slid Workers $3M To Settle Claims: Suit

Law360, New York (June 28, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A plaintiffs attorney and two former employees of the Hartford Insurance Co. have been indicted by a grand jury in connection with a scheme where the attorney allegedly gave the workers more than $3 million in kickbacks to settle silicosis claims.

The federal indictment against the attorney, Warren Todd Hoeffner, and the employees, Rachel Rossow and John Prestage, was returned Monday and unsealed Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas. The three are charged in the indictment with 14 counts including...
