Suit Says Apple IPhone Infringes Network Security Patent

Law360, New York (November 1, 2011, 1:53 PM EDT) -- Internet security firm VirnetX Inc. on Tuesday sued Apple Inc. in Texas federal court, claiming that popular products including the iPhone and the iPad infringe on a VirnetX patent for technology establishing secure communications between computers.

Apple's iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPod Touch, iPad 2 and Mac computers with the Lion operating system infringe on multiple claims of a VirnetX patent for technology that creates a secure mechanism for communicating over the Internet, the lawsuit alleges.
