Sony Ordered To Pay $27 Million In Supplemental Damages In Patent Suit

Law360 (January 11, 2005, 12:00 AM EST) -- A U.S. district judge has ordered Japanese electronics maker Sony Corp. to pay the equivalent of $27 million a year in supplemental damages to computer peripheral maker Immersion Corp.

In a ruling issued on Monday, the judge ordered Sony to directly pay Immersion license fee of 1.37% each quarter based on sales of its PlayStation console and the video games in question from July 1 as supplemental damages.The license fee will likely amount to roughly $27 million a year, based on the jury's earlier award....
