Howard Hughes Launches Md. Redevelopment Project

Law360, New York (November 1, 2011, 8:10 PM EDT) -- National real estate developer The Howard Hughes Corp. has begun work on the first stage of a long-planned 13-million-square-foot revitalization of downtown Columbia, Md., which will include several high-rises and thousands of new apartments, the company announced Tuesday.

In November 2010, Dallas-based Howard Hughes partnered with the team behind Columbia's master-planned communities, which are self-contained villages, along with Kettler Management and Orchard Development Corp. to revitalize the city's residential and commercial real estate market.

Financial details of the development have not been disclosed.
